It is a culinary and cultural journey throughout the Andes together with award-winning chefs Virgilio Martínez and Pía León, along with Virgilios sister, medical doctor and researcher Malena Martínez. Mil restaurant is located in a unique place near the small town of Maras next to Moray archaeological site, elevated 3,500 meters above sea level, in Cusco, Peru. It is the headquarters and culinary face of Mater, the project that Virgilio and Malena lead together with a group of scientists, researchers, chefs, designers, artists and various types of artisans, but, above all, it works together with members of the different neighboring native communities that, for some years now, have provided not only ingredients and concepts to Mil restaurant, but also to the prestigious Central and Kjolle restaurants and Mayo Bar in Lima, contributing knowledge and renewing the value of relationships between food, culture, producers and nature
